Chickpeas are also known as grabanzo beans. I say that because I didn’t know this before!
This is just my quick reminder how to use dried chickpeas.
Long OverNight Soak
- If you have time, soak chickpeas in cold water. Lots more water than just covering the dried chickpeas. They will expand a lot.
- Next day, drain, rinse.
- Put in boiling water (salt &/or herbs opt.). Simmer for 60-90mins, depending on how soft you want them.
Quick Soak
- Put dried chickpeas in pot with lots of water. Bring to boil.
- Boil for 5 mins.
- Remove from heat and let soak for 1hr.
- Drain and rinse and set aside till ready to cook.
- When ready, put in boiling water (salt &/or herbs opt.). Simmer for 60-90mins, depending on how soft you want them.
