All I want is a simple, quick way of sprouting mung beans. Let’s go!
Take some mung beans and wash them a few times. Then into a container and soak for 1-3 hours.
After a few hours, you should be able to see that the beans have started to swell a bit and some of the skin has started breaking.
Cover with a cheesecloth or similar, secure with rubber band, and then drain out water. Then rinse and drain again.
Leave it tilted in a cool, dark place – little sunlight (e.g. cupboard, pantry, under sink).
Being in a tilted angle allows any excess water to run out.
Tip: Before leaving it, roll the container around so that some of the beans stick to the sides. Apparently that helps with the sprouting when they get a bit more air circulation.
Repeat! Water & drain about twice a day – for 3-5 days (you determine how sprouted you like your beans to be).
PROGRESS SHOTS
to be continued … Meet back here to see how the mung beans sprouted.
