Our Strawberry Progress
28 Sept 2019
I have made a self-watering egg carton to sow the seeds in. And put them in a makeshift water reservoir & hot house. (Tho come to think of it … it might not really need a hot house!!!)
FAILED! Does not seem too happy to grow from seeds.
NEXT
I think it was around Dec 2019 when neighbour Melisse gave me some strawberry plants. I divided them: one in a pot at the front, the other in the ground at the back (just outside small b’room)
POTTED STRAWBERRY PLANT IN FRONT OF HOUSE
- seem to like its position
- growing well
- looking yummy
- seems to be growing well here. But right now, some pest seems to be attacking the leaves.
STRAWBERRY PLANT IN THE GROUND, BACK OF HOUSE
Correction:
- Looking promising
- So juicy!
- oh oh .. when I turned it over …
- worm!!! Must find way to lift it off ground or protect strawberries
- tried protecting the strawberry fruits with organza bags
- Works … but seems to have impacted the fruit size
- Seem to be flourishing. Had used beer traps for a while. Worked but stuck so bad I got rid of them. Just applied crushed eggshells yesterday.
- Plastic grid. To encircle plant and tie together with wire ties.
- lifting fruits off soil.
