This must be the most basic, quickie Szechuan sauce. But I have tested this and it tastes good! And handy to have in the fridge. Perfect for stir-fries or as a dipping sauce.

Below is just my (adapted) short-hand version for myself.
Substitute or adj. qty according to personal preference. Szechuan sauce is a mix of savoury, sweet, spicy, sour…. Use whatever you have on hand
Ingredients
- soy sauce – ¼ C
- brown sugar,maple syrup,honey etc – 1T
- garlic paste or fresh
- ginger paster or fresh – 1T
- chilli garlic sauce, Sriracha, etc.
- crushed Szechuan pepper
- vinegar (rice, plain, ACV, etc) – 2T
- powder seasonings: 5 Spice, chilli (or flakes), garlic, ginger
- cornstarch (for thickening) – 1T
Extras:
- chopped coriander
- sesame
- lime/lemon juice
- dash of fish sauce
Steps (summary)
Whisk together. Simmer. Store.
